An Audit is not always a scary experience

Most people would agree that they dread being audited. It is a time consuming, stressful experience when it happens regarding your taxes. What about having an audit done in regards to your life? Would it be yet another stressful, negative filled experience for you?

Auditing your life stages can bring about clarity, remembrances of good times past, and bring new goals into focus.

In each life stage (childhood, teenage years, 20's, 30's, etc.) ask yourself the following questions:

  • Identify any major events, traumas, conflicts or other crises you may have experienced.

    • How did you resolve or get through those experiences? Was there a resolution?

  • What did you learn from the experience and what insight have you gained?

Maybe you notice a pattern of resilience being grown throughout your life. Or an empathetic nature blossoming after having experienced life's difficulties.

What happens when you look into the future, imagining the life stages that are to come:

  • What conflicts, threats or crises might come up for each life stage?

  • What opportunities do you see happening for each future stage?

With any change in life, we experience losses and gains. It's important to recognize, appreciate and accept both. Reflecting on the losses and gains helps us balance the reality of life experiences and their impact on us.
